Introduction
NewsBridge provides a platform designed to empower African citizens and connect them with local and international journalists. These Terms govern your use of our platform and its related services.
Use of the Platform
You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction to use NewsBridge. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the platform complies with all applicable laws and regulations in your region.
User Reporting Rules
When submitting reports via WhatsApp or our web interface, you agree:
- To provide accurate and truthful information to the best of your knowledge.
- Not to submit fabricated, misleading, or intentionally false content.
- Not to submit content that incites violence, hate speech, or illegal activities.
- To respect the privacy of others and not share sensitive personal information.
- Not to impersonate any person or entity or falsely state your affiliation.
Note: Violations of these rules may result in the suspension or termination of your account and the removal of your reports. We also reserve the right to report illegal activities to the relevant authorities.
Newsroom Rules
Newsrooms and journalists accessing the NewsBridge platform agree to:
- Use the reports and content provided solely for journalistic and reporting purposes.
- Verify the accuracy and authenticity of the reports before publication, as NewsBridge does not guarantee the truthfulness of user submissions.
- Respect the anonymity of citizen reporters who choose to remain anonymous and not attempt to uncover their identities.
- Properly credit NewsBridge and the citizen reporter (if applicable) when using reports sourced from our platform.
User Content & Ownership
By submitting reports, photos, videos, or other content ("User Content") to NewsBridge, you retain your ownership rights in that content.
However, you grant NewsBridge a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, and distribute your User Content in connection with operating and providing the platform.
You also grant Newsrooms who access your User Content through the platform a license to use and publish that content for journalistic purposes.
Privacy & Data Use
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use the NewsBridge platform.
We will only share your personal information with Newsrooms if you explicitly consent. Otherwise, your reports will be anonymized or attributed as you specify.
Copyright Policy
We respect the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe your copyright has been infringed on our platform, please contact us with the details.
Our Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, NewsBridge:
- Is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
- Does not guarantee the continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free operation of the platform.
- Is not responsible for the actions or content of users or Newsrooms.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the platform at any time, with or without cause or notice.
